Just as you will more than likely work with a wedding planner to organise your destination wedding, you should really think about working with a top class Irish based wedding photographer who is prepared to work abroad to capture your magical destination wedding.

There are definite advantages to using an Irish based wedding photographer although your wedding will take place outside Ireland.
Before your wedding
Firstly there is no language barrier and you can meet and discuss your plans and preferences in advance of your wedding and get to know your photographer before your wedding rather than simply meeting a local photographer as they arrive on your wedding day with the possible complication of a language barrier.
An Irish based wedding photographer will also be familiar with the Irish “character” and sense of humour and so will be able to interact with, help to relax and have a bit of craic with yourselves, your bridesmaids, groomsmen, families and guests.
At your wedding
You are choosing a stunning or exotic location for your destination wedding and naturally will want to feature those locations in your wedding photographs and will want to get a selection of photographs that will really set your wedding apart from a wedding which takes place in Ireland. However you do not necessarily need a locally based photographer to achieve this as an Irish based photographer can easily check out photo opportunities at your chosen location initially on Google Maps and then choose the most suitable locations in consultation with your wedding planner.
With a destination wedding you are very much in the hands of your wedding planner as they will choreograph your entire day for you and that is a great bonus for your photographer as your wedding planner will generally have chosen photo locations to fit in with the timetable of your day.
Apart from stunning, unusual or exotic locations for a selection of your couple, wedding party and family photos at your destination wedding, you will also want a selection of photos that really capture the atmosphere, the emotions and the craic of your special day, those casual/candid photos that every couple love. Who will understand the unique atmosphere at an Irish wedding regardless of whether it takes place in Ireland or abroad than an experienced Irish based wedding photographer? While a locally based photographer will be familiar with locations for photos near the venue they may not have an insight into the style of photography that captures the essence of an Irish wedding, the craic, the banter, the slagging all of which an experienced Irish photographer will be familiar with.
Who will your families and guests feel more relaxed and comfortable with, an Irish based experienced wedding photographer who speaks their language and easily understands them or a locally based photographer speaking a language foreign to them and this language barrier may cause confusion when they ask for photos to be taken?

After your wedding
A lot of locally based wedding photographers for destination weddings may offer you an “album”of your wedding photos as part of your package, but they may decide on the photos that will appear in your album and what you get may be more of a photobook rather than a professional wedding album.
What I offer all of my couples is stunning wedding photography with the option of a digital only photography package ( all photos presented fully edited encased in a beautiful crystal encrusted USB Memory Heart) or a choice of wedding album packages using top class professional storybook wedding albums to showcase their wedding photographs. My album packages include a full bespoke design service using your choice of photos from your wedding as well as a range of album cover options. Once I design an initial proof layout for your album I can either meet you to discuss it or email the layout to you for approval or any changes you would like me to make to it. Then only when you are happy with the final layout I place the order for your personalised wedding album and delivery normally takes 3 weeks. Once I receive your wedding album I check it out and then deliver it to you. Of course with an album package you also receive the USB Memory Heart containing all of your photos.

You are probably wondering will it be much more expensive to fly a photographer from Ireland to your destination wedding rather than using a locally based photographer.
Well there are of course additional costs to an Irish based photographer when working at a destination wedding but in my case I keep them to a minimum, the costs will vary with the wedding location.
Of course flight and accommodation costs do vary depending on the time of year and destination for the wedding and that is why I offer individually tailor made packages for destination weddings.

I am also happy to offer additional extras such as an engagement shoot at your destination when you are meeting your wedding planner to discuss details, depending on flight times it may be possible for me to do this by flying out in the morning and returning in the evening with no accommodation cost involved.
I can also offer parent albums, presentation photos for your parents ( photos taken at your wedding, edited, printed and framed at the venue for presentation as gifts to your parents after the speeches) A signature board photo which is a 30cm x 20cm photo taken at your wedding which is edited, printed and mounted on a signing board ready for your guests to sign during the evening and then framed when you return home.
I can also offer framed first dance photos or other photos from your wedding framed to hang on the wall, canvasses, Chromalux prints, a range of photo gifts and thank you cards.
